After your session has finished you firstly use the MP Options menu to get the Master Point Detail Selection screen
Set the level of the competition to whatever you want from the "pull down" list (provided you are within the allocated number of sessions allowed by the ABF if applicable)
For example you may want the event to be a "Red Point" event (B4c) or simply leave it a Green Point Event (E)
For a Red Point event you would change the MP Options from the Results Screen (after the event has been played) to "B4c" (Spec' Club)
Below the pull-down list you see a "Master Factor" box. You need to decide on your factor as follows (the normal factor is "Zero" or blank)
Refer to the allocations set out in the Masterpoints Manual
See Section 4.4.9
Look up the "Grade" you are running and determine the Factor from the Table
In other words, if your event was a "Red Point" event (B4c) and ALL your participants were "Graduates" then the factor would be 0.50 (50%).
If ALL the participants were "Local Masters" then the factor would become 0.80 (80%).
When you have a "mixed" field you simply add the factors from each Grade together and divide by the number of different grades participating.
For example if there were 16 Graduate Masters ,10 Club Masters, 8 Local Masters and 6 National Masters for a Red Point event the the factor would be calculated as follows:
Method 1:
- 6 National Master
- 8 Local Master
- 10 Club Masters
- 16 Graduate Masters
- If I look at the "National Masters" ranking, there are 6 players of that rank or above and 40 players of that rank rank or below
- If I look at the "Local Masters" ranking, there are 14 players of that rank or above and 34 players of that rank rank or below
- If I look at the "Club Masters" ranking, there are 24 players of that rank or above and 26 players of that rank rank or below
- If I look at the "Graduate Masters" ranking, there are 40 players of that rank or above and 16 players of that rank rank or below
Working from the lowest rank up, find the first ranking where there are fewer players "at or above" the ranking than "at or below" the ranking.
In the example above that ranking would be "Club Master" and so the factor would be set at 0.65
Method 2:
Graduate Masters Factor 0.50
Club Masters Factor 0.65
Local Masters Factor 0.80
National Master Factor 1.25
0.50 + 0.65 +0.80 + 1.25 = 3.20
3.20/4 = 0.80
I personally feel that Method 1 is the better method to use since it is more like an "Average" Grading.
After you decide on the "Master Factor" you are going to use, you insert it into the "Master Factor" box in the MP Options screen
changing the "Master Factor" to 0.80 simply reduces the Masterpoints by 20%!
