In our club we run a series of competitions throughout the year. We have pairs and teams events which are scored as the best (eg) 4 of (eg 6) rounds, and we also detemine the best individual over the summer and winter seasons. We calculate the winners by assigning a score of 10 points to the winner of each round and 0 points to the last position with those in between receiving scores at even intervals (to 2 decimal places)

In order to simplify the calculation (which has up to this last season been done by hand), I have written a program to read the Scorebridge event files, The user selects the events to be included in a competition from a list - these are saved in a competition file - and the program calculates the current or final position for the competition. The results can be printed, saved in a text file, or saved as a web page.

I would be happy to pass on what I have done

I have also written utilities to list the appearances of players over a selected set of events, to list EBU members in the player database, and to further process the Scorebridge Handicap files. The latter produces a handicap file from a pairs handicap file and adds to it handicaps for those pairs who appear in a set of events but who do not have a pairs handicap. This is done by calculating the average of the individual handicaps from a selected handicap file. It also allows manual overwriting of the calculated handicaps.
